Divine Word University (DWU) got its university status in 1996, formerly called the Divine Word Institute. The university is located in the heart of beautiful Madang. Pathway to Divine Word University (DWU)
Candidates can enrol at DWU as either full-time or part-time students. The full-time students can enter DWU as undergraduates (Grade 12 school leavers, adult matriculation and open and distance learning schools).
There are entry levels for post-graduates courses such as advanced diplomas, masters and PhDs. These courses are meant for students who have first degrees.

2023 Divine Word University Non-school Leavers Application
DWU send the Non-School Leavers Forms (NSL) to those who request them. So if you would like to apply to study at DWU next year, you should request the 2023 DWU NSL Application Form by contacting the registrar at (+675) 422 2937 or registrar@dwu.ac.pg.
On the NSL application form, the university will require you to complete the following:
- Personal Information,
- Academic Information,
- References from the Principal or other teachers from the School and from a Pastor or Community Leader and,
- Family or other details of a Sponsor.
Check on the application for the closing date. If the date is not specified on the 2023 application form, contact the registrar and find out before submitting the application for admission.

After we (DWU) receive all applications, they are then processed and forwarded to respective departments for the initial selection process (Pre-Selection).
The Pre-Selected Applicants will go through the final selection after the Grade 12 selection at the Office of Higher Education in December.

DWU Entry Requirements
- A short text outlining the reasons why you want to study your preferred Course should be attached to your application form and the reasons why you should be offered a place in the Department.
- The completed form must be accompanied by CERTIFIED COPIES of all relevant documents: transcripts and certificates of qualification/s. A Commissioner of Oath, a Lawyer, a Magistrate or a Justice of Peace
must certify documents as a true copy of the original. Any documentation not properly certified will result in your application form not being processed. - You must have completed Grade 12 with “B” grade average or better in all subjects taken.
